Entre los días 6 y 9 de septiembre, en el Seminario Conciliar de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe de la diócesis de Santiago de Querétaro, México, se realizó la Primera Reunión Ordinaria del OMCC.
La actividad del primer día se inició con la inscripción de los participantes de los cuatro Grupos Internacionales, seguida de un cóctel de bienvenida y del almuerzo, compartidos en alegría, amistad y espíritu comunitario.
A las 17,30 horas se dio inicio a la Ceremonia Inaugural, en la que luego de la oración inicial, a cargo de Mons. Faustino Armendáriz, Asesor Eclesiástico del OMCC, hicieron uso de la Palabra entregando su saludo a los Participantes, el Presidente y el Asesor Eclesiástico del Secretariado Diocesano de Querétaro – Rafael Almanza y Padre Arturo Thomas – el propio Mons. Faustino Armendáriz, y el Presidente del OMCC, Juan Adolfo Moguel Ortiz.
El acto continuó con una dinámica de autopresentación de los representantes de los cuatro Grupos Internacionales y de los miembros del Comité Ejecutivo del OMCC (Doc_D1EI)
Para cerrar el acto se pasó a la elección de los integrantes de la Comisión Redactora del Acta Final de la Reunión, la que quedó compuesta por el Coordinador de Grupos Internacionales del Comité Ejecutivo del OMCC, Alberto Stang, y por un representante de cada uno de los Grupos Internacionales: Jeannette Castillo-Rairibi por el Grupo Asia-Pacífico, Marisela Rodríguez-García por el Grupo Norteamérica y Caribe, Lisa Ortín Katnich por el Grupo Europeo, y Eugenio Severín Huidobro por el Grupo Latinoamericano.
La actividad del día culminó con la celebración de la Eucaristía, en la Capilla de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe del Seminario Mayor, presidida por Monseñor Armendáriz, (Doc.D2E) concelebrada por los Asesores Eclesiásticos de los Grupos Internacionales presentes y el Rector del Seminario.
La jornada del segundo día se inició con la Oración de la Mañana, guiada por Margaret Morris, Presidenta del Grupo Asia-Pacífico.
A continuación el Presidente del OMCC, Juan Adolfo presentó “El qué y el cómo del actual CE-OMCC”, de acuerdo a la Propuesta de Postulación presentada por México en el XVI Encuentro Interamericano del GLCC, celebrado en octubre de 2017, en Talca, Chile.
Posteriormente, Mons. Armendáriz hizo una reseña de la Reunión que tuvieran los miembros del CE-OMCC, en Roma, con el Cardenal Kevin Farrell, Presidente del Dicasterio para los Laicos, la Familia y la Vida, de vuelta del viaje a Fátima para el traspaso de las funciones del OMCC de Portugal a México. Asimismo, leyó para conocimiento de los presentes la carta que, posteriormente, envió el Cardenal Farell al OMCC con sus comentarios sobre la Reunión. (Doc.D3E)
Antes de proseguir con el trabajo del día, se tomaran las fotos oficiales de los participantes.
Los trabajos prosiguieron con la presentación de los Informes de los cuatro Grupos Internacionales, los que relataron las actividades realizadas, sus planes y proyectos, y los problemas que han debido enfrentar.
Por la tarde hubo una visita a la ciudad de Santiago de Querétaro, fundada en 1531, la cual en septiembre de 1810 se convertiría en la cuna del movimiento de la Independencia nacional y en donde en 1917 se redactaría la Constitución mexicana aún vigente. Su centro histórico posee varios sitios declarados Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en 1996.
La visita culminó en el Templo del “Dulce Nombre de Jesús”, conocido como “Teresitas”, uno de los más bellos de la ciudad, con una Eucaristía presidida por Monseñor Armendáriz y concelebrada por los sacerdotes que participaban en la Reunión, en la cual la homilía estuvo a cargo del Padre Jorge Farfán, Viceasesor del OMCC y del GLCC.(Doc.D4E)
El tercer día, Fiesta de la Natividad de la Virgen María, se inició con las Oraciones de la Mañana, guiadas por el Padre Manuel Hinojosa, Viceasesor Eclesiástico del Grupo Europeo.
La actividad continuó con la Cuenta de las diferentes Vocalías del Comité Ejecutivo del OMCC, quienes fueron informando sobre lo realizado y sus proyectos futuros y en ejecución:
- Alberto Stang, Coordinador de Grupos Internacionales del OMCC, se refirió a la necesidad de establecer un Reglamento Interno del OMCC, proponiendo algunos criterios básicos y solicitando la colaboración de los Grupos Internacionales con aportaciones concretas. Se refirió asimismo a la Encuesta enviada a los Grupos Internacionales y planteó la posibilidad de reuniones con los Grupos Internacionales y sus respectivos Secretariados Nacionales
- Eugenio Severin, Vocal de Comunicaciones del OMCC presentó la política comunicacional del OMCC, se refirió a la importancia de utilizar los medios de comunicación y las redes sociales como instrumentos de evangelización, presentó el nuevo BOLETIN del OMCC y el nuevo SITIO WEB del OMCC, resaltando la importancia que tendría en este la Escuela en Línea y solicitando a los Grupos Internacionales la designación de Corresponsales para alimentar el Sitio con noticias de las actividades desarrolladas en los distintos continentes o regiones.
- Yolanda Ruiz presentó el Plan de Trabajo elaborado conjuntamente con Maria Elisa Zanelatto , ambas Vocales de Estudio y Formación del OMCC, de manera resumida, y basada en el Informe General ya enviado a los Grupos Internacionales, enfatizando la importancia de la colaboración de los Grupos Internacionales para enriquecer el contenido de la Escuela en Línea insertada en el Sitio Web del OMCC.
- Guillermo Mejía, Vicepresidente (aguardar nueva nomenclatura?) del OMCC, se refirió al tema de los Recursos Económicos, abordando las Cuotas Anuales de los Grupos Internacionales y formulando una serie de propuestas que permitirían allegar recursos frescos , tanto para el OMCC como para los Grupos Internacionales.
Por la tarde se abordaron otros tópicos de la Agenda de la Reunión. Entre ellos:
- El “Proyecto África” con un completo informe preparado por el Grupo Europeo, sobre la forma en que se están introduciendo los Cursillos en África, tomándose al respecto varios acuerdos.
- La necesidad e importancia, como aporte esencial para la unidad y comunión, de adecuación de los Reglamentos y Estatutos, tanto de los Grupos Internacionales, como de los Secretariados Nacionales, al Estatuto del OMCC. Aprobado por la Santa Sede.
- La invitación recibida por el Presidente del OMCC por parte del Dicasterio para los Laicos, la Familia y la Vida, para participar en la Jornada “Promoción y formación de fieles laicos: buenas prácticas”, a realizarse en la Sede del Dicasterio entre el 26 y 28 de septiembre, en Roma, y presentar una ponencia sobre el asunto.
- La entrega de un “Proyecto de trabajo” preparado por el GNAC con base en un estudio de la Exhortación Apostólica Gaudette et Exsultate, para ser utilizado como material de evangelización, para que sea ser sometido a evaluación por el Comité Ejecutivo del OMCC.
- La propuesta para la realización de la Segunda Reunión Ordinaria del OMCC en el mes de septiembre de 2019, acordándose que ella sería organizada por el GNAC, en la ciudad de Chicago, Estados Unidos.
- La propuesta de enviar una Carta a todos los Cursillistas del mundo, que refleje la unidad, fraternidad y comunión del MCC, reiterando su fidelidad a la Iglesia y al Santo Padre Francisco y garantizando las oraciones y el respaldo a su Pontificado, la cual fue aprobada por unanimidad. (D5EI)
Después de la lectura y aprobación del Acta de la Primera Reunión Ordinaria del OMCC, se procedió a compartir la Eucaristía en la Capilla del Seminario Menor, Presidida por Monseñor Armendáriz y concelebrada por los sacerdotes presentes.
El último día de la Reunión, domingo, los participantes fueron trasladados a Ciudad de México, para celebrar a mediodía en la Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe la Eucaristía de Clausura, presidida nuevamente por el Asesor Eclesiástico del OMCC, Monseñor Armendáriz y concelebrada por los sacerdotes participantes en la Reunión. The First Ordinary Meeting of the OMCC took place at the Seminar of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in the Diocese of Santiago de Queretaro, México, from 6th to 9th September.
The activities of the first day began with the Registration of the participants representing the four International Groups, followed by a welcome cocktail and lunch, shared in an atmosphere of joy, friendship and community spirit.
At 5:30 pm the Opening Ceremony was inaugurated with a prayer conducted by Msgr. Faustino Armendáriz, OMCC Spiritual Advisor, after which both the President and the Spiritual Advisor of the Diocesan Secretariat of Queretaro – Rafael Almanza and Fr. Arturo Thomas – also expressed their joy in welcoming the participants. Then, both the OMCC President and the OMCC Spiritual Adviser, Juan Adolfo Moguel Ortiz and Msgr. Faustino Armendariz, greeted and welcomed all the participants who were invited to introduce themselves. (Doc_D1EI)
The last activity of the Opening Ceremony was the appointment of the Writing Commission who would be in charge of writing up the Meeting Minutes, formed by a representative of each Executive Committee: Alberto Stang, International Groups Coordinator for the OMCC Executive Group, and one representative of each International Group: Jeannette Castillo-Rairibi for the Asia Pacific, Marisela Rodríguez García for the North America and Caribbean, Lisa Ortín Katnich for the European and Eugenio Severín Huidobro for the Latin American.
The first day’s activities culminated with the Eucharist celebrated at Our Lay of Guadalupe Chapel, presided by Msgr. Armendáriz (Doc.D2I) and concelebrated by the International Groups Spiritual Advisors and the Seminary Rector.
Friday’s activities started with Morning Prayers conducted by Margaret Morris, the President of Asia Pacific Group.
The OMCC President, Juan Adolfo, subsequently made a presentation about “The why and the how of the current OMCC Executive Committee”, according to Mexico’s Candidacy Proposal presented in October 2017, at the XVI Inter-American Encounter of the GLCC, in Talca, Chile.
Msgr. Armendáriz then told the audience about the Meeting the OMCC-EC had in Rome, with Cardinal Kevin Farrell, President of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, after their trip to Fatima for the transfer of the OMCC from Portugal to Mexico. He also read the letter received from Cardinal Kevin Farrell commenting the visit. (Doc.D3E)

The activities of the day were resumed and each International Group presented their reports, sharing their activities, plans and projects.
A tour of the city took place in the afternoon. Santiago de Queretaro was founded in 1531, became the birthplace of the national independence movement in 1910 and the place where Mexican Constitution, still in force, was written in 1917. Querétaro’s historic centre has various sites declared Cultural Patrimony of Mankind, by UNESCO, in 1996
The tour ended at the Church of the Sweet Name of Jesus, also know as Teresitas, one of the most beautiful temples in the city, where the Eucharist was celebrated by Msgr. Armendáriz and concelebrated by the priests attending the Meeting, one of whom, Fr. Jorge Farfán, Assistant Spiritual Advisor of the OMCC-EC and of the GLCC, delivered the homily. (Doc.D4I)
The third day of the meeting, Feast of Virgin Mary’s nativity began with Morning Prayers by Fr. Manuel Hinojosa, Assistant Spiritual Advisor of the European Group. Subsequently some members of the OMCC-EC Team Work gave the audience information about the work they have been doing on projects already in progress or to be started in a near future.
Alberto Stang, International Groups Coordinator, mentioned the need of a set of Internal Regulations for the OMCC, proposing some basic criteria and asking the collaboration of the International Groups in the form of concrete contributions. He also mentioned the Survey about the Cursillo Movement in the world, already sent to the International Groups, and mentioned the possibility of meetings with the International Groups and their respective National Secretariats…
Eugenio Severín, in his capacity of OMCC-CE Communications Director, spoke about the communications policy of the OMCC-CE referring the importance of using social network and modern means of communication as Evangelization tools. He presented the new OMCC Bulletin and the new OMCC Web Site, pointing out the importance that the International Groups appoint representatives who would feed the site with news on the activities developed in the distinct continents or regions.
Yolanda Ruiz introduced the Work Plan prepared by herself and Maria Elisa Zanelatto, both responsible for the area of Formation & Studies of the OMCC-EC, summarized as General Information about the On line School already sent to the International Groups to feed the contents of the On line School inserted at the OMCC Web Site.
Guillermo Mejía, OMCC-EC Vicepresident, referred to Economic Resources, tackling the Annual Contributions by the International Groups and presenting some proposals that would enable both the OMCC-EC and the International Groups to raise additional economic resources.
Other topics of the Agenda were dealt with in the afternoon, such as:
The European Group presented a thorough report on the Africa Project on how the Cursillos have been introduced in Africa and important decisions were agreed with by the OMCC-EC and the International Groups.
The need and the importance of the adjustments of the Internal Regulations or Statutes both of the International Groups and the National Secretariats to the OMCC Statute, as an essential measure for unity and communion.
The invitation received by the OMCC President from the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, to attend the event “Promotion and Formation of the Lay Faithful – Good Practices”, to take place at the Dicastery seat, in Rome, from 26th to 28th September, and present the theme “How to hold laity responsible for Evangelization today”.
The delivery by the NACG of a project based on a study of the Apostolic Exhortation Gaudette et Exsultate, to be used as evangelization material, for the OMCC-EC evaluation.
The proposition for holding the Second Ordinary Meeting of the OMCC in September 2019, and the decision that it will be hosted by the NACG in the city of Chicago, US.
The suggestion of producing a Letter to the Cursillistas in the World, that would reflect the unity, fraternity and communion of the CM, emphasizing its fidelity to the Church and to the Holy Father, assuring prayers and support to his Pontificate, which was unanimously approved. (D5EI)
After the Minutes of the First Ordinary Meeting of the OMCC were read and approved, the participants shared the Eucharist at the Seminar Chapel, Presided by Msgr. Armendáriz and concelebrated by the priests attending the meeting.
On the last day of the Meeting, Sunday, the participants were transferred to Mexico City for the Eucharist celebration at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Presided by Msgr. Armendáriz and concelebrated by the priests participating in the meeting (D6I)
